Break Out The Brooms!

(Beckett was great for the third straight start.)
(Lugo made a slick catch.)
(Ortiz hit his 4th homerun today!)
After waiting through a 2 hour rain delay, the Red Sox finished off a sweep of the shortened three game series (Sunday's game was washed out), a little bit after noon on Monday (12:18 PM to be exact, the Patriot's Day game was originally scheduled for 10:05 AM). The final score was 7-2. In keeping with the theme of the series, and the beginning of the season in general, Josh Beckett provided a third quality start in a row. His line was as follows:

6IP 6H 1ER 1BB 5K

Manny Ramirez added 2RBI, and David Ortiz hit his fourth homerun of the year. But the position player star of the game was Julio Lugo. On top of going 2-4 with a double and a run scored, he also made a pair of dazzling defensive plays. On was going back for a pop up by Howie Kendrick, and the other ranging deep into the hole to rob Reggie Willlits of a base hit. The Sox head to Toronto tomorrow to play their first divisional games of the year against the blue Jays. Daisuke Matsuzaka will face off against Gustavo Chacin.

GO SOX!
