Jacoby Ellsbury for MVP!!

(Pedroia Turns Two.)(Ellsbury: Single, Triple, Home Run, Stolen Base)(I want that job.)(Papelbon is pumped.)
The effectiveness of the the young and home grown continued tonight, as the suddenly resurgent Red Sox (84-55, first, AL East), held down the Blue Jays for the second consecutive evening, by the final score of five to three. The highlight of the evening was the continued production of September call up sparkplug Jacoby Ellsbury, who contributed this line:

3 fof 3, 1R, 1 3B, 1HR, 2RBI, 1SB

which was made all that much more remarkable considering that it all came off of Jay's ace Roy Halladay. Pedroia threw in a 2-4 with an RBI double performance, and Youkilis added his 16th home run late to cap the scoring. Josh Beckett allowed only a three run home run to Matt Stairs over eight innings pitched for his 17th win. With the win, the Red Sox stay 7 games in front of second place New York, and all but eliminate their opponent, third place Toronto (13 1/2 back) from competition in the division.

The Sox send Curt Schilling to the mound Wednesday night looking for the sweep, and he will be opposed by Shaun Marcum.

GO SOX!
