Over The Weekend, Sox Take 2 of 3 From Yanks!

(Ortiz Got One!)(Celebration!)(ALEX CORA hit another home run! Yep. That's right. ALEX CORA!)(Coco Got Plunked.)(Julio Lugo Got Plunked Too.)(Manny Hit A Bomb Of His Own.)(Okajima Is Practically Unhittable.)
Real Life got in the way this weekend, and prevented me from blogging about the first two games of the Yanks-Sox series at Yankee Stadium this weekend. Good thing I am not a real Red Sox blog, because I would be a sucky one! Daisuke Matsuzaka got the win on Friday, as the Sox won on Friday. On Saturday, Tim Wakefield and Co. pitched valiantly but fell to the Yanks, 3-1.

On Sunday, two of the usual suspects (Manny Ramirez, David Ortiz) and one surprising cohort (Alex Cora), all homered to power the Sox past the Yanks to a series win, 7-4. The Sox are now 5-1 against New York to this point this season, and have the best record in the Major Leagues. Cora added a triple to his HR on this big day, Hideki Okajima (1H, 4K) pitched two stifling innings of relief, and Jonathan Papelbon nailed down the game for his 8th save of the season. He is yet to give up a run.

The Sox start a home series with Oakland on Tuesday with Joe Blanton squaring off against Curt Schilling.

GO SOX!
