Synchronized Off Days!

Well it seem rather convienently that both the teams I follow, the Boston Red Sox, and The Hanshin Tigers of the NPB have the day off today, which is a good time to take stock of where they are. Standings in both brackets are current as of Wedneday morning:After 120 games (The MLB plays 162 games) the Red Sox are currently 24 games over .500 with a 72-48 record. They have the best win total in Major League Baseball with 72, and the best winning percentage with .600. No other team in either league has even 70 wins. In their division (the American League East) they are five games ahead of the Charging New York Yankees. Friday brings a doubleheader against the American League West Leading Los Angeles Angel of Anaheim (yes, I think the name is stupid too).
After 101 games the Hanshin Tigers are 6 games over .500 with a record of 52-46-3 (yep, the NPB has ties. If there is no winner after 12 full innings of play, the contest is considered a draw.). They have the fifth best win total with 52 and the fifth best winning percentage with .531 (Interestingly, 3 of the four teams with better records than Hanshin have played more games). In their league (The Central League) they are currently in third 2 1/2 games behing the Yomiuri Giants, and 1 game behind the Chunichi Dragons. Friday brings a contest against the sixth (last) place Hiroshima Toyo Carp.

Good Luck To Both Teams!
